Millie M. Sasaki, RN, BSN
Millie has been a Registered Nurse with the Midwest Bariatric Institute since 2007. She is a Certified Bariatric Nurse through the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and a Certified Support Group Leader through the Bariatric Support Groups International.

Millie enjoys working with patients and is amazed by the transformation that occurs for them after surgery. "Not only do the patients reach their weight loss goals, they also succeed in reducing or eliminating comorbidities such as hypertension, sleep apnea, high cholesterol and diabetes." She adds, "Support group activities help patients help each other and that is such a joy to witness!"

 

John J. Karl ,RN, BSN, CORN, CRNFA
John is a certified registered nurse first assistant (CRNFA) and bariatric coordinator for the Franciscan Midwest Bariatric Institute. John has been a registered nurse for 20 years and a CRNFA for 10 of those years. John’s experience has afforded him a unique insight into the area of bariatrics – not just as a healthcare provider but as a bypass patient himself. He has worked along side Dr. Cahill for nine years. He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery and the Association of Operating Room Nurses.

 

Diane Bondi-Kennedy, RN
Diane is a registered nurse and has been working at Franciscan St. Margaret Health for over 32 years. She has clinical experience in pediatrics, pain management and bariatrics. She has been working with bariatric patients since 2004. Diane is dedicated to ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of quality care with an emphasis on compassion and support. Her personal struggle with weight management throughout her adult life fuels her passion and dedication to bariatric patients. Diane finds true personal fulfillment in assisting patients achieve their weight-loss goals and maintenance.

 

Kay Smith, RN
Kay is a registered nurse and has been working at Franciscan St. Margaret Health for 29 years. She joined the Midwest Bariatric Institute shortly after it opened at Franciscan St. Margaret. Kay’s clinical experience also includes medical/surgical nursing, oncology and pain management. Kay enjoys working with bariatric patients and assisting them to achieve their goal of improved health.

 

 

Eleanor Camer, RN
Ellie brings 38 years of critical care experience to the Midwest Bariatric Institute, 23 of those years working for Franciscan St. Margaret Health. She has worked in the emergency room, preadmission testing, post anesthesia care unit, same day surgery and endoscopy.

Ellie recognizes the challenges that bariatric patients have overcome. Their successes and smiles are heartwarming - "A true team effort!
